No tracking.
Just essentials.
We use cookies only to keep you logged in and save your writing session. No tracking cookies. No advertising cookies. No third-party analytics. That’s it.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They serve different purposes — some are essential for a site to function, others track your behaviour across the web for advertising.
hushmuse uses only the first kind. We have no interest in tracking you.
The cookies hushmuse uses
We use three essential cookies and nothing else:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-auth-token | Keeps you logged into your hushmuse account so you don’t have to sign in every visit. | 7 days | Essential |
| hm-session | Saves your current writing session so your work is preserved if you close the browser. | Session | Essential |
| hm-cookie-acknowledged | Remembers that you’ve seen the cookie notice so we don’t show it again. | 1 year | Essential |
These cookies are necessary for hushmuse to function. Without them, you wouldn’t be able to stay logged in or save your writing.
What we don't use
To be completely clear about what hushmuse does not do:
No tracking cookies. We don’t follow your behaviour across other websites.
No advertising cookies. We don’t run ads on hushmuse and don’t share data with advertisers.
No analytics cookies. We don’t use Google Analytics, Hotjar, Mixpanel, or any third-party analytics service that sets cookies on your device.
No social media cookies. No Facebook Pixel, no Twitter tracking, no LinkedIn Insight Tag.
Do we need your consent
Under GDPR, essential cookies that are strictly necessary for a service to function do not require consent. All three cookies hushmuse uses fall into this category.
We show a cookie notice on your first visit as a matter of transparency — not because we’re asking for permission. We believe you should know what’s on your device, even when consent isn’t legally required.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings at any time. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent hushmuse from keeping you logged in — you’ll need to sign in each time you visit.

Changes to this policy
If we ever introduce new cookies — which we’d only do for essential reasons — we’ll update this page and notify you via email if you have an account. We will never introduce tracking or advertising cookies.
